Oman Methanol Company LLC (OMC) is a joint venture company between Oman Methanol Holding Company LLC, a division of the Omar Zawawi Establishment (Omzest) and the Caribbean Methanol Holding International Limited. OMC is based in the Sohar
Industrial Port with other major chemical and petrochemical industries.
OMC was founded in 2004 and immediately started construction of its methanol plant, which started production on 1st September 2007. This world-scale plant is designed to produce 3,000te premium-grade methanol per day, using the Johnson Matthey LPM synthesis technology.
OMC has a marketing off-take agreement with Helm of Germany and provides methanol to customers as far as Japan to the east and Rotterdam to the west.
